UAB Transfer Christian Coleman Commits to Oklahoma State
Coleman was a nightly double-double threat with the Blazers.
The Cowboys added some more size to their ranks on Saturday with the addition of UAB transfer Christian Coleman.
Listed at 6-foot-8, 205 pounds, Coleman announced his commitment to Oklahoma State. He averaged 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds a game for the Blazers last season.
From Winnsboro, Louisiana, Coleman played two seasons of junior college ball — at LSU Alexandria one year and South Plains College the next. He averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocks a game at South Plains.
Coleman then transferred to UAB for the 2023-24 season. He averaged 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds a game in his first seasons with the Blazers while shooting 55% from the field. He recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double against SMU that season, something that would be a precursor to his breakout 2024-25 campaign.
He had six double-doubles this past season, two of which came with 20+ points. Against Alabama A&M in December, Coleman scored 25 points and brought down 11 rebounds. In an NIT game against UC-Irvine, he had 21 points and 14 boards. He scored 20+ points in five games. Coleman closed the season well on that NIT run. In three games, he averaged 19 points and nine rebounds a game.
OSU has taken six from the portal with Coleman’s addition. Those six players combined to average 80.9 points and 25.8 rebounds a game at their various spots last season.
Coleman is the second portal addition the Cowboys have made who is taller that 6-foot-5, joining the 6-foot-9 Parsa Fallah (Oregon State). Coleman is the 11th player on the roster (of a possible 15) that will be made up of almost entirely new bodies. Andrija Vukovic and Robert Jennings II are the only eligible returners who haven’t jumped into the transfer portal.
