Just like he was in Big 12 championship matches, former Oklahoma State wrestler Nick Piccininni is still undefeated in his professional MMA career.

Piccininni used a rear-naked choke in the fourth round to defeat Jomar Pa-ac in the main event of Fury 92 on Sunday night. The win improved Piccininni to 6-0 since starting his MMA career in 2021 after a successful college wrestling career in Stillwater.

Piccininni started his MMA career at bantamweight (135 pounds) with Xtreme Fight Night, where he was 3-0. He dropped down to flyweight (125 pounds) and switched promotions to Fury in 2022 and has been 3-0 since that move. Sunday night was Piccininni’s first main event with Fury.

There was quite the introduction for Piccininni before the fight because of his past accomplishments on the mat and newfound success in the cage. With his 6-0 record, which includes five submissions via rear-naked choke or arm-triangle choke, Piccininni has gotten on a lot of radars in the MMA world. He was recently listed as a 2024 UFC Fight Pass Fighter to Watch.

As a wrestler, Piccininni was a four-time Big 12 champion and three-time All-American at 125 pounds for OSU. He most famously pinned Iowa’s Spencer Lee to start a dual at Gallagher-Iba Arena and blow the roof off the place.

Piccininni’s former Cowboy teammate, Jacobe Smith, also fights with Fury and is undefeated in his MMA career. It was announced last week that Smith will appear on the upcoming season of Dana White’s Contender Series. If Smith scores a UFC contract, Piccininni might not be too far behind.
