Watch: Tylan Wallace Recreates Famous Iowa State Sideline Touchdown against Cincinnati Bengals

As Tylan Wallace was toe-tapping down the sideline for an 84-yard touchdown against the Bengals on Thursday night, Oklahoma State fans were thinking, “I’ve seen this before.”

Wallace caught a pass early in the fourth quarter of the Ravens’ eventual 35-34 win against the Bengals before turning up the Baltimore sideline and slipping past two more Cincinnati defenders all while toeing the tight rope and rolling 84 yards to the house. The score would’ve tied the game had Justin Tucker not missed the ensuing extra point, but Lamar Jackson and Co. went on to score on the Ravens’ next drive to take the lead.

“It was just a simple out route, nothing crazy,” Wallace said. “One thing, I just need to make sure I catch the ball first before anything. Then once I spun out of it, the guy missed a tackle, so I was like, ‘OK, I got some space here, so I’m just gonna keep running. Run as fast as I can.'”

The play was eerily similar to one Wallace made in Ames in the 2019 season. That play saw Wallace take a Spencer Sanders pass 71 yards to the house after trucking a pair of defenders and stiff-arming a few more. The 2019 catch was probably more impressive than Thursday night’s because the stiff arms against the Cyclones were much more brutal, but Thursday’s catch had a lot of eyeballs on it given it happened in an NFL divisional rivalry.

Thursday’s play was part of a career night for Wallace, who finished with three catches for 115 yards and the score. Wallace’s career-high in receiving yards was 31 going into the night. He must love playing the Bengals, too. His four best games in terms of receiving yards have come against Cincinnati.

He was given a game ball after the win, where Baltimore coach John Harbaugh made reference to another play when Wallace was streaking down the sideline — his game winning punt return against the Rams last season.

Wallace is in his fourth year in the NFL after the Ravens took him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has caught all five of his targets this season for 146 yards and that touchdown — the first receiving score of his career.

Wallace played at Oklahoma State from 2017 to 2020. He’s fifth on the program’s all-time receiving yards list with 3,434. He also ranks sixth in receiving touchdowns (26) and sixth in receptions (205).
