Weekend Highlights: Cowboys, Cowgirls Both Win Big
Both hoops squads earned decided victories on Saturday.
Both of Oklahoma State’s hoops squads came out of Saturday with decided victories.
The Cowboys finally nailed down their second Big 12 win just hours after the Cowgirls secured their first 5-0 conference start in almost two decades.
Let’s jump into the highlights for each.
Cowboys 70, Wildcats 54
Mike Boynton’s team didn’t need more than five points from the Big 12’s leading scorer to secure its fifth road win of the season in dominant fashion. Cade finished with five, while these two split 30.
Isaac Likekele and Rondel Walker led the way with 15 points each.
Walker was all over the place, making play after play.
Not to be outdone, Avery Anderson added his own steal and seal combo.
Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe showed no signs of rust after missing the Cowboys’ game against West Virginia. He was hot out of the gate with a pair of put-backs including this and-one opportunity.
Cade made just one field goal on the night, but it was still silky smooth.
While the Cowboys took five tries to get two Big 12 Ws, the Cowgirls are off to their first 5-0 conference start since the 1992-93 season.
Cowgirls 69, Horned Frogs 50
Natasha Mack followed up her triple-double in points, rebounds and blocks against TCU on Wednesday with her sixth double-double of the season (19 points and 10 boards) and another beatdown of the Horned Frogs on Saturday. (Tough sledding for the Frogs.)
Taylen Collins added 19 points and seven rebounds of her own.
