West Virginia-OSU Guide: What You Missed on PFB Over the Weekend

A look back on a great weekend in Stillwater, USA.

We may have buried you in #content on Sunday as you finished up your Thanksgiving week plans and, if you’re like the Pistols fam, put up Christmas decorations about three weeks too early. No worries, though, here’s a recap of everything you may have missed on PFB over the weekend following OSU’s 45-41 victory over WVU.

• Two days later, I remain as perplexed as I was two hours after the game. Here are my 10 Thoughts.

For the first time in 1,442 days, Oklahoma State has a losing record in football. In the last 4,459 days, OSU football has had sub-.500 record for 36 of them. Today is No. 37.

That’s a sentence I wrote at halftime. (I wrote a lot of other sentences I had to erase, too). OSU is bowl eligible for the 13th straight year, and though they aren’t guaranteed a winning record after game No. 13, they’ve allowed themselves extra practice and have kept at least a little continuity going into 2019 (not to mention the possibility of a launching pad game against a Texas A&M, USC or Tennessee in the bowl). [PFB]

• Boone wrote ?, and it was great.

Cornelius in the first half vs. Cornelius in the second half was like the glow-up challenge personified and expedited into two separate 30-minute increments. He was Nathan Peterman in the first half, then Baker Mayfield in the second. His second half stat line? 19-for-28, 219 yards, four touchdowns, zero picks. [PFB]

• He also wrote Chuba and it was even better.

A huge win all around — for Oklahoma State, for Chuba, for the future of the running back position in Stillwater. Whether Justice Hill stays or goes to the NFL, it’s safe to say there may not be much — if any — dropoff at the position next season. Chuba’s unexpected, yet welcomed, transformation into an every down back in the Big 12 assures the reputation of RBU is here to stay for the foreseeable future. [PFB]

• On A.J.’s transformation from dog to dawg.

• Not sure Marshall is getting enough love for his Corn grades here.

• Best of social is always one of our most-viewed posts of a winning weekend. This exchange was fabulous.

• What bowl will OSU play in? If I had to rank their odds, I’d say …

  • Liberty Bowl
  • Cheez-It Bowl
  • Texas Bowl

Which means they’ll definitely end up in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.

• Cox wrote about how OSU’s 17-point deficit marked its second-biggest comeback in school history.

When it’s all said and done, I think we will look at this team as being exactly what it is. Probably a 7-, maybe 8- win group that was inconsistent, fun (at times) and fought its tail off. You’d hope that they can finish the year with some kind of momentum that can be carried into the next era of OSU football. That bowl ticket is a start. [PFB]

• Gundy talking Corn hit me in the feels!

• I loved all 257 seconds of this!

• I took a few questions just after the game ended. Was a fun one.
