What’s in the Game?: OSU’s Uniforms, Traditions in College Football 25

College football kicked off on Monday — virtually.

EA Sports College Football 25 released for those who preordered the Deluxe Edition. Earlier we shared ratings, superlatives and more for Oklahoma State players in the game, but now we thought it’d be fun to look at a bit of the bigger picture with how OSU is represented in the game as a brand. Here are a few notes on that, starting with all the uniforms available.

Atmosphere

Right off the rip when you start a game in Boone Pickens Stadium, it’ll show the Cowboys heading down the tunnel, where some tap on a “Believe” sign before running onto the field.

The run on set up incredibly similar to how it is in real life, with the band making a tunnel. I started two games to see if there was an alternative entrance, but it was the same (will continue to research, however). Scored 69 points in my first game against Tulsa and didn’t see Bullet one time, so it’s unlikely the live mascot is in the game.

The Zombie Nation song plays ahead of kickoffs and cannon fire sounds as the kicker places his foot to the ball.

Sticking with sounds, the band plays the ending bit to the fight song after OSU first downs. The Waving Song kicks in after OSU touchdowns. The band also played Neck at one point, I believe in the fourth quarter.

Touchdowns are also greeted with fireworks launching from atop BPS, true to real life. And at one point, the fans started chanting Orange Power.

Lastly, after the final whistle, the team can be seen swaying to the alma mater.

Perhaps the most realistic thing I saw in my first game, though, was that Ollie Gordon taking flight.

New Rival?

When you’re scrolling through the team select screen, it shows three rivals for OSU: Oklahoma, Tulsa … and Texas Tech.

The OU rivalry has all the Bedlam branding to go along with it, and the Tulsa rivalry even has Turnpike Classic branding. There wasn’t any Dust Bowl branding with Tech, but with OSU in search of rivals in a new-look league, it was a fun inclusion nonetheless.
