Whitener, Rudolph Confident LT Aaron Cochran Will Fit in Nicely in Stillwater
Mason Rudolph has a new body protecting his blind side, and it’s the kind of body you want fighting off folks trying to take your head off. Cal transfer Aaron Cochran will fill in at left tackle this year, replacing Victor Salako who is now playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Rudolph has been working out with Cochran, but Whitener knows him even better than that. The two were teammates at Cal before Whitener (and eventually Cochran) transferred to Stillwater.
“I think he’ll be great,” said Whitener. “He’s done really well in workouts this whole offseason. Really bonding and understanding where he fits in with the team and understanding the importance of this year. Because this is his last year too so he’s trying to make the most of it.”
QB1 agreed with his middle linebacker.
“He’s 6’8” and 325 — really good feet. We’re really happy to have him. That will really help. That’s a hole we needed to fill, and he’s filled it well. He’s really gotten a good grasp on the offense this summer.”
It was a hole that needed to be filled, and Cochran’s arrival kept the offensive line from a complete re-shuffle. His is a welcome (and very, very large) presence in Stillwater protecting the most valuable asset in recent Oklahoma State history.
