Safety Ty Thomas Explains His Decision to Commit to OSU
2017 safety Ty Thomas, a 5-foot-10 prospect from Lubbock, Texas, announced his commmitment to the Pokes and became the first pledge in the recruiting class on Friday.
He made an unofficial visit to Stillwater for Bedlam and, since his sister is a former OSU student, it wasn’t the first time he had been to town.
Per NCAA rules, only senior recruits are allowed to make “official visits” to schools of interest. But just based off his unofficial visit, Stillwater had everything he wanted to sell him early to commit.
“[It was] just the best overall fit for me!” Thomas said on why he chose the Cowboys over other offers including his hometown team: Texas Tech. “Love the coaching staff, the defensive scheme, and the environment.”
Thomas is the nephew of former Texas Tech and NFL linebacker Zack Thomas, who was a seven-time Pro Bowler.
