2016 DE Brandon Bowen Has OSU in Top Four
According to 247sports publisher Jeremy Clark, Oklahoma State is considered one of the favorites for 2016 defensive end prospect Brandon Bowen.
Bowen is considering TCU, Oklahoma, and Baylor and considers them his top schools at this point in the recruiting process, and he is expected to make a decision before the start of the season.
Bowen is an extremely unique prospect. At 6’5, 230 pounds, Bowen’s stock is rising quickly at two position rather than one. Not only is he an elite defensive end, but he is also used at the wide receiver position.
According to his HUDL account, he has a 40-yard dash time of 4.58. One of the fastest defensive ends in recent history, Jadaveon Clowney, clocked a 4.53 40-yard dash at his NFL combine performance. Bowen’s quickness combined with his versatility suggests his body would project well at the defensive end position.
Check out his HUDL video below. 40 seconds in, Bowen misses on a play in the backfield. But he stuck with the play, and was able to track down the receiver from the backfield to make an impressive play across the field.
Glenn Spencer loves guys with heart and a high motor, and Bowen seems to check off all those boxes.
Looking deeper into the depth charts, TCU, considered the current favorite, seems to have a very crowded depth chart at the defensive end position. In the 2015 class, TCU signed two defensive ends and already have two commitments from prospects in the 2016 class. OSU on the other hand, only signed one defensive end in the 2015 class and currently has no commitments in the 2016 class.
If Bowen is taking a look at depth chart and potential to see the field early in his collegiate career, OSU certainly is one of the more appealing options in his top four.
