The Cowboys have picked up a pair of defensive back prospects in the span of a few days.

Josiah Vilmael, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Vilmael’s pledge comes just a few days after Owasso DB Carter Langenderfer also picked the Pokes.

Vilmael hails from Travis High School in Richmond, Texas. He has legit track speed. According to MileSplit, he ran a 10.66 100-meter dash this year and a 21.57 200, with both times coming just last week.

Vilmael took a visit to Stillwater at the end of March. He’s an under-the-radar prospect, as Rivals is the only recruiting services that had a profile for him at the time of his commitment, but now that he’s committed to a Power Four program, I’d imagine evaluators will start to put eyeballs on him.

Vilmael is commitment No. 7 in Oklahoma State’s 2026 class and the fifth to play on the defensive side of the ball. He joins Langenderfer, linebacker Trey McGlothlin (Bixby), and edge rushers Jaylen Stewart (Pearland, Texas) and Landon Bland (Carthage, Missouri) as committed defensive prospects. The class also features running back KD Jones (Jenks) and offensive lineman Aiden Martin (Berryhill).

OSU’s seven-man class ranks 28th nationally, according to 247Sports, here in the early parts of spring. That’s good for fifth in the Big 12.
