What We’ve Missed

Forget for a minute the fact that the first two days of the Tournament should absolutely be a national, if not state and local, holiday. Most of us have had our Oklahoma State-loving lives on hold for teams whose players we’ve never heard of like Morehead State and Richmond. I’ll update our bracket challenge later today but for now let’s take a look at what’s going in OSU world right now…

OSU won its Big 12 season opener up in Lawrence yesterday over the Jayhawks, 3-1. The win moved the Cowboys into a four-way tie for first in the league with OU, Texas, and Texas Tech. OU and OSU have the two best overall records at 17-3 and 14-3 respectively.

The basketball team is traveling to Pullman this weekend for their Monday late-night tilt with Washington State. The Cougars took down Long Beach State by 9 in the first round of the NIT to earn the rights to host two straight. The winner will get a home game against Northwestern to go to the Final Four in NYC. I’ll have a full preview on Monday afternoon.

Finally, the wrestling squad has been competing for the last two days in Philadelphia at the NCAA wrestling championships. At the end of day two the Cowboys, as a team, are way out of the hunt for their 35th national title but Jordan Oliver (133 lbs.) and Clayton Foster (197 lbs.) are both wrestling for individual titles tonight. Penn State is running away with the event and has three wrestlers in the finals.
