All-Sports Roundup: Golf Earns Sixth-Straight Victory, Track & Field Takes Four Events in Arkansas
Oklahoma State’s golf team won its sixth event in a row last week, and it will aim for the all-time record of seven straight at the beginning of April. Let’s take a look around Stillwater to see how OSU’s teams are performing.
Golf
The Cowboys earned first-place finish No. 7 (of eight events!) on the season with a five-shot victory at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City, Florida.
The Cowboys are now tied for the second-longest win streak in program history with six. OSU’s 1974-75 and 1975-76 teams both won six tournaments in a row as well, with the 1986-1987 Cowboys holding the school record at seven.
Sophomore Viktor Hovland finished first overall in the tournament with a 13-under 200. With Hovland’s first career win, he becomes the seventh Cowboy on the roster to boast such an achievement.
Freshman Matthew Wolff also placed in the top 10, finishing in ninth place at 212 and giving himself his fifth top 10 finish in his last six starts.
