Final Notes and Thoughts on OSU’s No Good Very Bad Loss to Kansas State

There were some bright spots (ish) on Saturday, too!

My 10 Thoughts are out there. So are my frustrations and 800 words on how Mike Gundy’s got this. Now it’s time to empty the notebook on one of the more miserable outings in recent Oklahoma State football history.

• Can we stop calling Oklahoma State-Iowa State and Oklahoma State-Kansas State “a rivalry”? Not every conference matchup has to be a rivalry. They said it last week when OSU played Iowa State, too.

• I feel about KSU the same way I felt about Iowa State last week. They stink early. You should run them out of the building. Then you don’t, and you get housed late. Different week. Different team. Same concept.

• Can we also get announcers to stop acting like Corndaddy could have transferred to Florida State to start and that it was heroic of him to sit for as long as he has in Stillwater? Corn’s better than a lot of us give him credit for, but come on.

• Gary!

• I feel about Corn the same way I feel about Rickie Fowler. Fowler is a better player in his sport (obviously), but I’m not sure what gets them fired up. Maybe that doesn’t matter — it probably doesn’t — but I’d rather my QBs be like Tebow/Baker/Weeden.

• Maybe I haven’t looked closely enough this year, but I think this it the first time I’ve seen digital down signs on the field.

• Was a soft call or the softest call in the history of college football?

• Zuber should have housed that TD which would have been like the 39th straight year for Oklahoma State to give up a special teams TD to Kansas State. Related: Zuber is terrifying (and hidden half the time!)

• This is kinda hilarious.

• I believe the non-Andre Ware announcer called No. 28 from last year’s OSU team, “Junkyard Jim Washington.” I was crying.

• We haven’t had a lot of positive to talk about recently, but a true freshman getting these kind of reps, even in a bad season, is awesome.

• I was led to believe something along those lines, too.

• Guys, I don’t think Snyder was wearing a bowl pullover! I actually think the Big 12 asked him to stop at some point along the way.

• Hahahaha!

• I’ll never really understand Chuba running it up the gut. You have two guys that are far more capable. Don’t you want to get the Hubbard Telescope into more space?

• Plays from opponents’ 2-yard-line look like they’re from the 15.

• OSU had won 19 straight games when leading at halftime. Although to be fair, 6-3 is not a very commanding position going into the locker room.

• A good take.

• A thing that was typed in our Slack by someone after Andre Ware said Corn was going to get a look at the next level: If TC plays in the NFL then I’ll never watch football again

• Alex Barnes is a ballplayer. He looks like he’d fit in at OU or somewhere like that. /Subscribed

• I … did not come into the season thinking that there would be a game where Taylor Cornelius led the team in rushing attempts. I know he’s deceptively fast (or whatever white guy phrase you want to use), but he had six fewer carries than J.D., Justice and Chuba combined. I actually don’t hate running him. I’m just not sure you need to do it that much.

• I laughed.

• I can’t get enough of this.
