PFB Live (Bedlam Edition): What Will It Take to See an OSU Win?
Grab your phone or a pull up a keyboard and join us. We’ll get through this thing together.
Final: Oklahoma State 47 | Oklahoma 48
4Q: 1:03: Oklahoma State 47 | Oklahoma 48
A false start bails OSU out and gives Cornelius another shot.
He connects on it.
And then he didn’t.
4Q: 1:18: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 48
With Justice on the bench, OSU has ridden Chuba Hubbard and the Canadian has proven to have more than just world-class speed.
4Q: 3:29: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 48
Trey Sermon punches it in for the lead. The only two healthy RBs on OU’s roster have combined for 281 and five TDS on 9.7 yards per carry.
OSU is down 7 with three and half to go. Gotta shake that off and score.
4Q: 4:33: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 41
Jordan Brailford completely misses on a tackle of Kennedy Brooks who in turn goes 39 more yards to the 2-yard line.
4Q: 6:09: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 41
OSU lined up and handed the ball off to Chuba Hubbard on third-and-7.
But on the very next play, Hubbard took the ball forward into a crowd of Sooner defenders and was hit hard, losing the ball and OU recovered.
4Q: 8:38: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 41
A controversial holding penalty on Cody Ford nullifies a 23-yard Kennedy Brooks run and puts the Sooners back behind the chains. That sets up a sack for Amen Ogbongbemiga, the first of his career.
Sooners are forced to punt and OSU gets the ball back with a chance to take the lead. Cornelius has a full house to prove what he’s made of.
Attendance is 87,635, the third-largest in stadium history. #Bedlam

4Q: 12:20: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 41
The Cowboys even things up with a Chuba Hubbard score but Matt Ammendola gaffes the hell out of the PAT. That’s his second missed kick of the day. Tie game in Norman.
4Q: 13:34: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 41
The Cowboys get this drive started with a nice catch and run by Chuba Hubbard.
And then he kept it going with an even better pass play.
End of 3rd Quarter: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 41
3Q: 0:00: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 41
Kenneth Edison-McGruder grabbed his second sack of the day (and of his season) facilitated by some good coverage from OSU’s secondary.
But before we heap too much praise on OSU’s DBs, A.J. Green and Rodarius Williams both whiffed on an open-tackle and then gave up a 39-yard pass to Hollywood.
OU is back in front and all of the momentum has swung toward the home squad after a TD that somehow counted after the third quarter had ticked away before the snap.
Clocks don’t matter in Bedlam. Didn’t in 2013, don’t now.

3Q: 2:34: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 34
So much for pinning them deep, huh?
3Q: 3:31: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 34
The Cowboys were knocking on the door on third-and-8 when Cornelius pulls the ball from Chuba Hubbard’s bread basket to be quickly sacked out of field goal range. Hockett’s punt it downed at the OU 7-yard line. That feels like it’s going to be a tough possession to come up empty on.
3Q: 5:02: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 34
Tyron Johnson went full Chris Carson. That was fun.

3Q: 6:23: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 34
Somehow the Cowboys are *knocks on wood* playing a pretty clean game.

The Pokes force another OU punt and will have a chance to build on their new 1-point lead.
3Q: 7:32: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 34
The Cowboys take the lead after their best starting field position of the game, lining up at their own 40-yard line. The Pokes get down the field with a nice throw and catch to Dillon Stoner:
And then Chuba Hubbard pays it off with his second rushing TD of the day. He had two on the year coming into Bedlam.
3Q: 10:25: Oklahoma State 28 | Oklahoma 34
After declining the ineligible penalty, OSU gets its first sack with Kenneth Edison-McGruder getting credit for his first of the season. Oklahoma chooses to go for it on fourth-and-12 and turnover on downs.
3Q: 12:16: Oklahoma State 28 | Oklahoma 34
The Sooners continue to make hay in the ground game and it sets up a nice pass from Murry to CeeDee Lamb. The play was originally called incomplete, out-of-bounds but is under review.
What do you think?
UPDATE: Ruling overturned. That’s a 30-yard catch for Lamb.
3Q; 13:21: Oklahoma State 28 | Oklahoma 34
The Pokes don’t take advantage of the extra 15 yards and come up short third-and-long. First possession of the second half is booted away by Matt Hockett who has apparently assumed Zach Sinor’s punting duties.
3Q; 14:57: Oklahoma State 28 | Oklahoma 34
Oklahoma State gets a head start on its first drive with a defensive hands-to-the-face penalty on Amani Bledsoe. In his first two passes (one that didn’t count) Taylor Cornelius appears to be trying to throw an interception.
Halftime:Â Oklahoma State 28 | Oklahoma 34
With a chance to set up the field goal, Oklahoma gifted OSU a possession when Kyler Murray took off with five seconds remaining. The clock hit zero before OU could call the timeout.

Oklahoma State is down 6 and will get the ball back to start the third quarter. Here are some notable stats after two quarters.
• Tylan Wallace has his seventh triple-digit receiving game and leads both teams with 148 yards and a score with five catches on his seven targets.
• Cornelius is 16-of-26 for 304 yards, two TDs and no INTs. He’s looked great at times but has been inconsistent and has thrown a couple stinkers.
• OU’s twp running backs are mostly having their way with OSU’s front seven. Trey Sermon has 92 yards and a score (10.2 yards per carry) and Kennedy Brooks has 62 yards and two TDs on 8.9 yards per attempt. Kyler Murray has 72 yards on a 10.3 average.
• OSU has been unable to get any real pressure on Kyler Murray (15-of-19 for 227 yards and a score). The nation’s leader in sacks has barely been within an arm’s length of Murry thanks to OU’s dominant front.
2Q: 0:31: Oklahoma State 28 | Oklahoma 34
Boos in Norman. Instead of taking a knee a la 2016 to run out the half, Gundy showed his cojones and OSU sliced up the Sooners defense with passes to Tylan, Tyron and Stoner.

Then Chuba found pay dirt to keep OSU in it.
2Q: 1:25: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 34
Murray aired it out to his speedy receiver on the outside Marquise Brown for 51 yards and a score.
Let’s see if Gundy tries to score with a minute and a half left knowing he gets the ball back.
2Q: 2:34: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 27
Anything you can do, I can do nearly as bad. The Cowboys and Sooners have just traded three-and-outs after the game started with six TDs on the first seven possessions.

2Q: 3:27: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 27
The Sooners follow suit, with their first three-and-out on their first punt of the game. Kyler Murray went 0-for-2 on that possession. He was 12-of-13 before that drive.
2Q: 4:57: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 27
The Cowboys stall out in Sooner territory ending with a missed connection between Cornelius and J.D. King on third-and-8.
On a day like this, with #OKState WRs running free in #Sooners secondary, I'm flipping the ball out to JD King on 3rd-and-8 like zero times.
— Guerin Emig (@GuerinEmig) November 10, 2018
Then Ammendola’s struggles continue as he misses left on a 41-yarder. Pokes come up empty and have to feel like that will come back to bite them.
2Q: 7:22: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 27
The Sooners started with great field position after the Lamb punt return. A couple of plays later it looked like Lamb was in the end zone but Kolby Peel pushed him out of bounds.
Once again, OSU’s defense is able to hold OU to a field goal. Still a one-score game.
2Q: 9:59: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 24
Taylor Cornelius misses an open Tylan Wallace on third-and-19 that would have been an easy first down.
Bedlam – where a punt is the ultimate diss. https://t.co/c3ARbWNPMm
— Carson Cunningham (@KOCOCarson) November 10, 2018
Instead we had the first punt of the game that was returned 65 yards by CeeDee Lamb.
2Q: 11:38: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 24
Thanks to a 43-yard scamper by Kyler Murray, the Sooners got right down the field. Gundy had some constructive criticism for the refs after that run.
Kennedy Brooks picks up a 45-yard run of his own and his second TD on the ground.
2Q: 13:04: Oklahoma State 21 | Oklahoma 17
Don’t look now but Tylan Wallace just took the lead and 49-yard bomb from Taylor Cornelius. Someone calibrated Corn Dog’s joystick because he is looking as good on the deep ball as he ever has.
Wallace is absolutely abusing Tre Norwood one-on-one so far. The true sophomore now has his seventh 100-yard receiving game this year. He’s caught four of his five targets for 128 yards and that score.
2Q: 13:37: Oklahoma State 14 | Oklahoma 17
Oklahoma State’s defense almost got a stop but the Sooners went for it on fourth-and-1 and Sermon got 3. But the Pokes held OU to 3 points after getting to the 9-yard line. Today that feels like a win.
Seriously, do we score that as a punt today? #Sooners #OKState #Bedlam
— Guerin Emig (@GuerinEmig) November 10, 2018
1Q: 5:30: Oklahoma State 14 | Oklahoma 14
The Cowboys are airing it out with Tylan and Cornelius marching them down the field. Then Tyron throws up the X.
1Q: 9:06: Oklahoma State 7 | Oklahoma 14
The Sooners answer just as fast with seven-play, 75-yard drive that ends with a Kennedy Brookes TD run.
I guess Herbie was right about this being a shoot-out.
It’s Be’lam
— Southwell (@JustinSouthwell) November 10, 2018
1Q: 11:59: Oklahoma State 7 | Oklahoma 7
The Cowboys did answer quickly after a flagged unsportsmanlike call on Robert Barnes for this hit on Tylan Wallace.
On the very next play, Cornelius when back to Wallace who made it to the 1-yard line.
Justice Hill scooted into the end zone to finish off the drive.
1Q: 13:16: Oklahoma State 0 | Oklahoma 7
The Sooners strike first and fast with Trey Sermon toting the rock 60 yards on the first snap of the game. It only took three more plays for OU to go up 7-0. The pressure is on OSU to score on this drive or things could get ugly.
Oklahoma State comes into Bedlam 2018 as a heavy underdog in need of a win to become bowl eligible. Sound familiar?
There are plenty of similarities between this rivalry game and the one that served as a launching point for one of the best eras in OSU history. But there are also plenty of reasons that this in-state bout may not go the same way as it did on that cold night in Norman four years ago.
Whatever happens, this Bedlam game should prove to be just as nerve-wracking, just as gut-wrenching and take just as much out you as, well, every single Bedlam you’ve ever experienced.
Don’t worry, I’ll be here with all the updates, tweets and lukewarm takes as the discussion below undoubtedly delves and dives into the darkest parts of our psyche. So jump in, join the conversation and refresh regularly. Let’s get weird.
