Eddie, coming to ESPN soon.
The makers of “Eddie” — a documentary-style film centered around the life and legacy of Hall of Fame OSU coach Eddie Sutton — announced Monday that they’ve signed a deal to take their production to the big time.
The documentary’s social media team said it signed with ESPN to air the show on a primetime deal, with details to be determined at a later date. It will air Monday night at 9 p.m. ET.
“This is literally a dream come true for me and it feels so good to finally be able to celebrate this,” said Christopher Hunt, the documentary’s director. “Thanks to everyone who has supported me and our team along the way.”
UPDATE: The making and creation of this film has been an incredible journey. Our team is so proud of what we have accomplished. The “Eddie” crew spent years compiling interviews and cutting clips to produce its documentary, and boy should it be worth the wait. It features interviews from Sutton himself as well as from Dickie V, John Calipari, Rex Chapman, Bill Clinton, Bill Self and many others. The show is about Sutton, not just as a coach but as a person, as well as his coaching trajectory.
Here’s the official teaser it released two years ago on its website.
Sutton passed away in May at age 84, just a month after being named as part of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame class of 2020.
