Five-star Keyonte George Picks Baylor Over OSU, Others
George had OSU in his final five schools.
Five-star recruit Keyonte George, the No. 2 player in the 2022 recruiting cycle, committed on Sunday to Baylor to give the Bears their second-highest ranked recruit in men’s basketball history.
George chose Baylor over a final five of OSU, Texas, Kansas and Kentucky.
A superstar scoring guard out of Lewisville, Texas, George had long had OSU on his short list of schools but the two in-state schools — Texas and Baylor — were always considered the favorites. The Longhorns were once the frontrunner after landing his high school teammate Arterio Morris last month, but that flipped in recent weeks with Baylor landing his final official visit and ultimately sealing the deal.
OSU pitched George on a big role in Stillwater akin to how it used Cade Cunningham last season, with an emphasis on preparing him for the next level. George’s best friend is OSU star Avery Anderson and that also played a factor in OSU’s contention.
While OSU did not ultimately reel in George, it has a nice start to the 2022 class after landing top-200 talent Quion Williams last week. OSU is also in the mix to land five-stars Shaedon Sharpe and MJ Rice, the latter of whom is announcing his commitment this week between Kansas, Pitt, NC State, OSU and pro options.
