Six-foot-nine OL Transfer from Kent State Has OSU in Final Two
This would be massive for OSU.
It’ll either be Oklahoma State or Colorado for big-time (literally!) offensive tackle transfer Savion Washington, who this week told 247Sports that he’s down to two schools and will play out his final two years of remaining eligibility in either Boulder, Colorado, or Stillwater, America.
Washington, a 6-foot-9, 325-pound right tackle who started 11 games last season as a junior at Kent State, visited OSU earlier this month and is expected to visit Colorado soon before making his final decision. Colorado just hired Deion Sanders as its new coach in a splashy hire that could complicate the Cowboys’ quest to bolster its line with the addition of Washington.
OSU offered Washington a scholarship the very day he entered the transfer portal earlier this month, on Dec. 5, and has since made a concerted effort to prioritize him after struggles along the offensive line in recent years.
Pro Football Focus graded Washington as the No. 61 overall tackle in its database last season with a 79.0 pass-block grade and a 72.3 rush-block grade that rate well above average in college football. OSU for instance this past season had its highest-graded tackle, Jake Springfield, finish as the No. 177 overall tackle in PFF’s database this season with a 75.1 pass-block grade and a 59.4 run-block grade. Left tackle Caleb Etienne rated 552 in the PFF database with a 63.0 pass-block grade and a 38.1 rush-block grade.
