OSU Wrestling Adds Commitment From Six-time Uzbekistan National Champion Mirzo Khayito
OSU adds a big name to its ranks at 165.
Oklahoma State wrestling added a big commitment late Monday to its ranks as six-time Uzbekistan National Champion and two-time NJCAA All-American Mirzo Khayito pledged his allegiance to the Pokes on social media. Khayito comes to OSU via Ellsworth Community College, where he was a national finalist at 165 pounds, finishing second at the NJCAA National Championships earlier this spring.
Khayitov is the only wrestler in Uzbekistan history to reach six titles, part of a decorated career competing on the international circuit. Here’s the hilariously loaded lede to a story about him from earlier this year, where you have to take multiple breaks just to list his accomplishments. From Times Citizen:
He’s wrestled in one of the toughest tournaments in the world – the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix in Russia. He’s a six-time senior national champion, a two-time cadet national champion, a two-time junior national champion, a world team member, and Asian championship team member and a President Tournament champion.
