TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

The portal giveth, and the portal taketh away.

Amid a string of commitments this week, both through the portal and otherwise, the Cowboys are set to potentially lose one of their most experienced remaining defenders.

Safety Kobe Hylton, who started eight games for the Cowboys this past fall, has reportedly entered the transfer portal.

Hylton appeared in all 12 of the Cowboys’ games, starting the final eight. He racked up 40 total tackles (31 solo) and had two pass breakups. He had a 25-yard interception and return against Baylor.

Hylton was a super senior in 2024, but it appears the recent ruling concerning junior college years would provide him additional eligibility. Before his single season in Stillwater, Hylton earned consecutive All-Conference USA honorable mentions in his two years at UTEP. Before that, he made multiple stops but spent one season at NEO, a junior college. Assuming the new ruling applies to him, it would mean his year at NEO would no longer count towards his eligibility.

Hylton is just the latest in a slew of OSU defensive backs to hit the portal, following the likes of Lyrik Rawls, Kam Franklin, Willie Nelson and Tywon Wray Jr. The Cowboys’ secondary gained some talent from the portal just this week with commitments from the likes of JK Johnson, Mordecai McDaniel and Jeremy Cook.
