Bo Bassett Down to 4 Schools, Set to Announce College Decision Tuesday Evening
Bassett is down to OSU, Penn State, Iowa and Virginia Tech.
It’s already been a great week for Oklahoma State wrestling on the recruiting front, but it could get even better on Tuesday night.
That’s when Bo Bassett — the No. 1 prospect in the 2026 class, according to Flo — will announce his college decision. He announced Monday morning that he is down to four schools: Oklahoma State, Penn State, Iowa and Virginia Tech. OSU and David Taylor landed a commitment from Dreshaun Ross, the No. 3 prospect in the 2026 class, on Sunday.
“The recruiting process has been incredible,” said Bassett on Flo Radio Live. “I’ve loved every second of it. It’s been more challenging than I ever thought it would be, but it was fun. It was something that I worked for my whole life. …
“Those were the four (OSU, Penn State, Iowa and Virginia Tech) where I can see myself at the most. That’s what it came down to, talking with my family and talking with God. It’s been fun.”
Bassett’s Bishop McCort squad is set to start its run in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) championships on Tuesday. McCort, the No. 2 team in the country, will wrestle either Corry or McGuffey after those two teams wrestle earlier in the day. After McCort’s dual (which is set to start about 6 p.m. central), Bassett will announce his college decision.
Labeled a generational talent, Bassett is 109-0 in his high school career, having won a state title as a sophomore last season. He won a bronze medal at the U20 World Championships in September in Spain at 65KG (about 144 pounds).
Bassett visited Stillwater in November alongside his McCort teammate Jax Forrest — the No. 2 wrestler in the 2026 class. Bassett is obviously familiar with Taylor, as everyone in the wrestling world is. There is a video of Taylor showing Bassett some technique back when Bassett was only 8 years old.

“I think DT, his resume speaks for itself,” Bassett told PFB back in August. “What he’s done for himself is unbelievable. …
“I think Dave’s one of those guys — he’s young, he can relate to the guys. And I feel like he wants what’s best for these guys, and he’s one of those people who goes all in on whatever he does. So I feel like his pitch is that he knows exactly what these guys are going through, and he’s gonna be able to help you with that and he’s achieved everything that anyone would want to achieve in the sport. So I feel like that would be his pitch.”
