Given Oklahoma State’s recent success, it’s almost unthinkable to imagine the supers without the Cowgirls.

The program’s five-year streak in not only the supers but the Women’s College World Series ended over the weekend at Arkansas.

On Monday, Oklahoma State ace Ruby Meylan, took to social media to discuss “unfinished business.”

“Cowgirl Nation, I want to thank you for everything,” Meylan posted on X. “You have taken me in from day one. When I first arrived in Stillwater, I was broken. Day by day, this place has healed me. I can’t thank God enough for allowing this program to be in his plan for me.”

The pitcher transferred to Oklahoma State last summer following a two-year stint at Washington. Meylan’s comments echo those made by other recent Cowgirl transfers, including former OSU pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl. Oklahoma State coach Kenny Gajewski has a knack for helping players rediscover their joy and passion for the sport once they arrive in Stillwater.

This season, Meylan arrived with heavy expectations on her shoulders. Given her success inside the circle, she might have even exceeded a few of them.

Meylan’s 1.81 ERA ranks 18th nationally, and her 238 strikeouts put her inside the top 10. Perhaps equally impressive is how Meylan handled carrying such a heavy load, throwing 209 innings, which ranks seventh in the nation.

Despite seeing so much time inside the circle, Meylan averaged eight strikeouts per game while giving up 5.1 hits. Those numbers rank 35th and 30th, respectively.

After only one season in Stillwater, Meylan already sits 19th on OSU’s all-time strikeout list. She’s fifth all-time in the program’s average strikeouts per seven innings, and if she can finish with a better ERA next season, then Meylan’s career ERA will rank 18th or higher on the program’s all-time list.

Speaking of next season, Meylan’s post on X certainly suggested that the junior plans to come back and deliver a memorable season for Cowgirl fans.

“I am so blessed to have gone to war with this group of girls and coaches,” Meylan said in her post. “For the rest of my life, I promise to give Stillwater, Oklahoma State and Cowgirl Softball everything I have left in me.

“We have some unfinished business.”
