Report: Bedlam Women’s Hoops Is Back, Will Play Doubleheader with Men
Bedlam is reportedly back on the Cowgirls’ schedule.
Bedlam basketball at the Paycom Center is set to be turned up a notch.
The women from Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are set to play at the Paycom Center on Dec. 13, according to a report from Davis Cordova at The Norman Transcript. That’s the same day as the men’s game, as Cordova reports it will be a doubleheader.
The Cowgirls and Sooners didn’t play each other last year, the Sooners first season in the SEC after leaving the Big 12.
OU leads the all-time series against the Cowgirls 68-48. The Sooners have won the past six meetings against OSU but before that, the Cowgirls had won four in a row and seven of the last nine.
OSU went 25-7 last season, making the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years under coach Jacie Hoyt. OU went 27-8 in the fourth year of the Jennie Baranczyk era, making it to the Sweet 16.
Stailee Heard returns for what will be her junior season after being an All-Big 12 First Team selection as a sophomore. She was also named a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American honorable mention after averaging 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a game last season.
Hoyt also returns Micah Gray, who averaged 13.7 points, and Jadyn Wooten, who averaged 6.5 points a game as a true freshman.
The Cowgirls lost some firepower from last season’s roster but brought in a fantastic haul via the transfer portal.
OSU added the likes of Haleigh Timmer (South Dakota State), Amari Whiting (BYU) and others via the portal. The Cowgirls are also bringing in freshman Lena Girardi, a four-star prospect who averaged 30.8 points and 12.9 rebounds a game in her final season at the prep level.
