FINAL; Oklahoma State 27, Baylor 45
Without the spark of gimmick plays in the first, the Pokes stumbled in the second. You can point to those three consecutive three-and-outs and then question the decision to punt at midfield. But Baylor is a good team with a couple early losses.
The Cowboys were much improved for most of the first half on offense and looked better on defense at times throughout the game.

After getting into the redzone, the Bears had back-to-back penalties to put them in first-and-25 before Wendell Gregory got a big stop. The Bears have to settle for 3.

But Baylor and Sawyer Robertson.
The Cowboys have showed something we haven’t seen much of the last two seasons, but they can’t afford the three-and-outs or those big plays.
Flores nearly throws a pick on two-straight throws and the Pokes stall for their first three-and-out on the day.
The Pokes get another stop, forcing a punt and will take over with a bit of momentum at their own 10 after back tracking on the return.

Oklahoma State 10, Baylor 14 | Q2 11:31
The Cowboys have to settle for 3 after the would-be Flores highlight play was called back for a flag. The Cowboys have been moving the ball.
Flores’ hurdle and TD will get called back for a holding penalty. That stings.
Zane Flores had 11-straight completions before having to throw that one away. As good as Sam Jackson has looked in the alternate role, Flores has been efficient and effective.
ESPN tidbit: Most first quarter yards for OSU since 2023 (150).

Another quick score.
The Bears take the lead just seven seconds into the second, capping a five-play drive

Sam Jackson can sling it. Finds Shamar Rigby for 15 yards to jump start the drive. He has more passing TDs thank Zane Flores, by the way.
OSU’s defense forces a three-and-out and the Pokes can take the lead but do get pushed back 10 yards thanks to a holding penalty. They’ll start at their own 26.

It’s officially a new era of Oklahoma State football.
For the first time in over two decades, a different man will coach the Cowboys inside Boone Pickens Stadium. It will probably be a day of mixed emotions for fans, staff and players, but there’s also a game to be played and the Pokes coming in with a blank Big 12 slate. OSU comes in at 1-2 after dropping both of its FBS games in disappointing fashion. We don’t need to dig back into the last three weeks but suffice it say, there’s no place to go but up.
Across the field, Baylor comes in at 2-2 and Bears fans are also a bit disappointed. After dropping their season-opener to Auburn, the Bears edged out SMU 48-45 on the road and then took care of FCS opponent Samford 42-7. But they dropped a heartbreaker to defending Big 12 Champ Arizona State 27-24, thanks to a walk-of field goal.
The Cowboys are still in react just four days after Mike Gundy’s firing, but they better react quickly. Baylor brings one of the top offenses in the Big 12 led by the nation’s top passer.
