The Cowboys open Big 12 play this weekend, but little of the chatter throughout the week has had to do with what happens on the field.

Oklahoma State followed longtime coach Mike Gundy midweek, leaving offensive coordinator Doug Meacham to step into an interim role.

The Cowboys are 20.5-point underdogs for this 2:30 p.m. Saturday kick against Baylor. The Pokes got off to a 1-2 start with a win against an FCS team, a huge loss to Oregon and then a disappointing home loss to Tulsa.

Here’s how we see this game playing out.

Marshall Scott

Score: Baylor 31, Oklahoma State 10

OSU MVP: Rodney Fields Jr.

Uniform: Orange (Brand) — Orange — White

Thoughts: Maybe the shakeup of the week freshens the Cowboys up, but after watching this offense through three games, it’s hard to have a ton of confidence in it. Rodney Fields Jr. has looked like the Cowboys’ best offensive player — especially considering the struggles in the pass game.

Kyle Cox

Score: Oklahoma State 28, Baylor 24

OSU MVP: Rodney Fields Jr.

Uniform: Black (Cursive Cowboys) — Orange — Black

Thoughts: Feels like this could go one of two ways after a seismic shift like this. Either the team and staff pull together and the players win one for the mullet or they look shell-shocked. Being a generally positive person, I will go with the former.

Tyler Waldrep

Score: Baylor 38, Oklahoma State 21

OSU MVP: Rodney Fields Jr.

Uniform: Black (Brand)- Orange- Orange

Thoughts: I think the Cowboys respond the right way to the program’s weirdest week in a long time. The defense should miss fewer tackles after even the program’s best guys put on an uncharacteristic performance against Tulsa. Baylor’s defense has proven susceptible to the run all year, and that remains the case as Fields puts together another 100-yard performance. Flores puts together his new best game of the season, unfortunately, his growing pains creep up and keep Oklahoma State from truly pushing Baylor in this one.
