Weekend Watch Guide: An Oklahoma State Fan’s Guide to Week 7 of the College Football Season
Games to watch this weekend.
Last week brought some chaos to the college football landscape, and this slate of games looks even better on paper.
Oklahoma State returns home to host Houston, but here are looks at some of the other top games of the upcoming weekend.
Big 12 Schedule
Houston (4-1) at Oklahoma State (1-4) — 11 a.m. Saturday on TNT
UCF (3-2) at Cincinnati (4-1) — 11 a.m. Saturday on FS1
No. 22 Iowa State (5-1) at Colorado (2-4) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN
TCU (4-1) at Kansas State (2-4) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
Kansas (4-2) at No. 9 Texas Tech (5-0) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
No. 18 BYU (5-0) at Arizona (4-1) — 7 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2
No. 21 Arizona State (4-1) at Utah (4-1) — 9:15 p.m. Saturday on ESPN
Kansas-Texas Tech: No team has been able to stay within three touchdowns of the Red Raiders this year, but the Jayhawks might be the best Big 12 team Tech has faced to this point.
Jalon Daniels has thrown for 1,497 yards and 16 touchdowns with another 239 yards and a score on the ground, but he’ll take on the league’s top defense, as the Red Raiders are giving up just 11.2 points a game.
BYU-Arizona: BYU’s strength of schedule has been questioned to this point, but the Cougars will head to Tucson unbeaten. This starts a tough stretch for BYU, as after this the Cougars host Holy War rival Utah before going to Ames and then to Lubbock.
Arizona has already hit its win total from last season, but now it’s time to see how far the Wildcats can take this.
Arizona State-Utah: The Sun Devils’ past four games have been decided back one score, and now they’re headed to Salt Lake City to play a Utah team that has handled everyone aside from Texas Tech. With Tech pacing the Big 12 race, this game is big in terms of staying in the title fight for both teams.
Other Games to Watch
No. 24 USF (4-1) at North Texas (5-0) — 6:30 p.m. Friday on ESPN2
No. 1 Ohio State (5-0) at No. 17 Illinois (5-1) — 11 a.m. Saturday on FOX
No. 8 Alabama (4-1) at No. 14 Missouri (5-0) — 11 a.m. Saturday on ABC
No. 7 Indiana (5-0) at No. 3 Oregon (5-0) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on CBS
No. 6 Oklahoma (5-0) at Texas (3-2) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC
Nebraska (4-1) at Maryland (4-1) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on Big Ten Network
Florida (2-3) at No. 5 Texas A&M (5-0) — 6 p.m. Saturday on ESPN
No. 15 Michigan (4-1) at USC (4-1) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on NBC
USF-North Texas: These two teams feature coaches who are on just about all of the hot lists for the OSU job. Alex Golesh’s USF Bulls have two ranked wins and are in a firm position to compete for the Group of Five playoff spot. Eric Morris’ Mean Green is unbeaten and averages 44.8 points a game. A win here would put North Texas up in that playoff race.
Alabama-Missouri: The Crimson Tide will play its third consecutive game against ranked competition (and Alabama plays Tennessee next week). Alabama has looked like, well, Alabama again since it season-opening loss to Florida State. Mizzou is unbeaten but doesn’t exactly carry a signature win on its resume. This would be that.
OU-Texas: A two-loss team is favored over an unbeaten team? Must be Red River. This is setting up to be another wild one with OU QB John Mateer’s status up in the air, and Texas, the preseason No. 1 team in the country, off to a 3-2 start. I don’t get the feeling of one of these teams winning by like 14 points. It feels like it’ll either be a blowout (by either team) or an all-time classic.
