The Cowboys’ first portal commitment comes from a blue blood.

North Carolina transfer Luka Bogavac (pronounced BO-guh-VAHTS) pledged to Oklahoma State on Monday, with Jonathan Givony first reporting the news. He’s listed at 6-foot-6 and this past season was his first in the college system. He averaged 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists a game for the Tar Heels.

“Luka has grown up in high-level basketball and has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages,” OSU coach Lutz said in OSU’s release. “It shows in his game — he plays with poise, confidence and purpose. Paired with his size and shooting ability, he has all the tools to be a very good player at OSU.”

Hailing from Montenegro, Bogavac shot 35% from 3 on 149 attempts in Chapel Hill this past season. For reference, that’s about on par with Kanye Clary, who shot 35% on 124 attempts.

Prior to being a Tar Heel, Bogavac played in 55 games over two seasons for SC Derby Podgorica in his home country. In 29 games during the 2024-25 season, he averaged 14.9 points a contest while shooting 40% from 3 on about 5.3 attempts a game. In 2023-24, he averaged 7.8 points and shot 32% from 3.

He’ll be 23 years old by the time next season starts, and UNC listed him as a junior this past season.

Bogavac scored in double figures 18 times with UNC, putting up a season-high 20 against Clemson in early March. He went 6-for-10 from 3-point range in that game. He hit multiple 3s in 13 games as a Tar Heel.

Basketball runs in the Bogavac family, as Luka’s father, Nebojsa, played professionally for 13 years in Montenegro.

He becomes the Cowboys’ first portal pledge of the transfer window, but he won’t be the last. With six players from last year’s OSU roster in the portal and another four finishing out their eligibility, Steve Lutz and Co. could have to take as many as nine players out of the portal this offseason.
