This weekend is bringing the heat when it comes to hyped games.
Here is a look at the Big 12 slate and some of the best games from around the country for college football’s Week 7.
Big 12 Schedule
Cincinnati (4-1) at West Virginia (3-3) — 11 a.m. Saturday on TNT
Kansas (2-3) at Kansas State (3-2) — 11 a.m. Saturday on FS1
Arizona State (3-2) at No. 10 Texas Tech (5-0) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
TCU (2-3) at Baylor (4-1) — 6 p.m. Saturday on FS1
No. 18 Oklahoma State (4-1) at No. 20 Houston (5-1) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
No. 2 Notre Dame (6-0) at No. 8 BYU (5-0) — 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC
No. 11 Utah (5-0) at Colorado (2-3) — 9:15 p.m. CT on ESPN
Notre Dame-BYU: Glory is on the line this weekend in Provo. It’s a big game for the Cougars, but it might be even more meaningful to the conference as a whole.
A BYU win would not only provide the Big 12 with a data point of being a stronger league than it gets credit for, but it could also push Notre Dame to the bubble, as the Irish don’t have a strong schedule. If Notre Dame misses out on the playoff, that could sneak another Big 12 team in.
ASU-Tech: The Sun Devils have no doubt had a disappointing start to the year following that blowout home loss to Baylor, but only one of Arizona State’s losses in in the conference. The bad news for ASU is the Sun Devils still have this game against Tech and games against BYU (Oct. 31) at Oklahoma State (Nov. 11). So, if any turnaround is imminent, Arizona State needs to get going. Tech, meanwhile, is undefeated, but it hasn’t looked nearly as pretty as it did last year. Could Arizona State flip the league on its head with a big upset?
Two Rivalry Games: There’s a bit of an early rivalry week happening in mid-October.
The Revivalry between Baylor and TCU carries some weight to it in that Baylor is still unbeaten in the Big 12 and could be a darkhorse in the league. On the other side, TCU needs any sort of positive momentum after its 2-3 start.
Then the Sunflower Showdown sees Kansas and Kansas State square off in Manhattan. The Jayhawks have played some teams close, but their two wins this year have been Long Island and Middle Tennessee State. K-State is coming off getting handled by Houston last week, as the ‘Cats are on a two-game losing streak.
Other Games to Watch
No. 4 Ohio State (5-1) at No. 5 Indiana (6-0) — 11 a.m. Saturday on FOX
Florida (4-2) at No. 7 Texas (4-1) — 11 a.m. Saturday on ABC
No. 16 Mississippi State (4-1) at No. 22 LSU (4-2) — 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPN
Georgia State (4-1) at James Madison (6-0) — 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPNU
No. 6 Alabama (5-1) at No. 14 Tennessee (5-1) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC
No. 13 Missouri (5-1) at No. 9 Ole Miss (4-1) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on SEC Network
Ohio State-Indiana: A rematch of last season’s Big Ten title game takes place in Bloomington this weekend.
Curt Cignetti’s bunch hasn’t looked quite as dominant this season, but the Hoosiers are still unbeaten, coming off a big road win against a then-unbeaten Nebraska.
Ohio State’s lone loss was by a point in Austin. Since that game, no one has had an answer for stopping Jeremiah Smith.
Mizzou-Ole Miss: This game doesn’t quite have the drama of Lane Kiffin returning to Oxford, but Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons initially beat out Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss for the Rebels starting job last season before Simmons got hurt. The rest is history. So, Simmons will lead his new team into his old team’s house to try to get a Top 15 win.
