Just a day before the Cowboys are set to visit the Cyclones, they poached one of their pledges.

DJ Williams, a 2027 three-star edge rusher, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State, via his X account on Friday.

This came just two days after Williams announced his decommitment from Iowa State in a another X post.

Williams is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound edge rusher from Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, Alabama. He’s a three-star prospect according to 247Sports which ranks him as the No. 68 prep at his position in the 2027 class and the No. 31 overall prosect in the state.

As a junior at Helena High School, he racked up 80 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He also had an interception. As a sophomore he had 72 tackles, four TFLs and a sack. He transferred to Clay-Chalkville ahead of his senior season according to 247.

Williams’ list of offers includes over 20 schools with the likes of Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Memphis and Tulane also having extended scholarships. He committed to Iowa State when the Cyclones offered in mid-June.

But according to 247’s timeline, he decommitted from the Cyclones the day the Cowboys offered, just this Wednesday.

This makes for the third flip in as many days by Eric Morris and his staff. The Cowboys landed former Mississippi State corner commit J’Lynnd Kellow on Thursday and former Baylor LB commit Bryson Brown on Wednesday.

This brings OSU’s 2027 class up to 16 commitments. The Cowboys now rank 57th nationally in team recruiting rankings and 10th in the Big 12. Williams joins three-star Jaden Vessell (Baton Rouge, LA) as the second edge rusher of the class.

Take a look at some mid-season highlights including his first four games for Clay-Chalkville.
