Mike Gundy’s career passing yards record (7,997) stood for some 20 years before Zac Robinson broke it in against Iowa State in 2009.

The new mark stood for all of 741 days before Brandon Weeden broke it against, who else, Iowa State up in Ames (a record that got, um, overshadowed that day).

Weeden’s place will stand for more than two years, but it might not stand for more than four if Gundy names Wes Lunt the starter on Wednesday.

The stats below show you what Lunt needs to average to hold the completions, attempts, percentage, yards, and TDs records at Oklahoma State if he plays all four years.

Numbers once thought to be astronomical at a place like Stillwater have become (as you can see by the “QB avg. under Gundy”) a bit ho-hum in the last seven years.

Will Lunt do it if he gets the reins for the next 52 games? I don’t see why not.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to point out that if Weeden had started all four years, his career numbers (though not as gaudy per year because he would have been playing as a freshman/soph) would have approached the untouchable.
