Who OSU Has and Who is Coming at Wide Receiver
Oklahoma State boasts arguably the most stacked wide receiver corps. in the country. With Biletnikoff Award semifinalist James Washington returning for his senior year, coupled with an absurdly loaded recruiting class, let’s take a look at how the scholarships stand at the moment and what the future of the position looks like.
Seniors | Juniors | Sophomores | Freshmen | 2018 offers |
---|---|---|---|---|
Marcell Ateman (RS) | Jalen McCleskey | Tyron Johnson (RS) | Tyrell Alexander (RS) | C.J. Moore |
James Washington | Dillon Stoner | Tylan Wallace | Joshua Moore | |
Chris Lacy | LC Greenwood | |||
Braydon Johnson |
The freshman class is absolutely loaded, as you can see. But it’s a strategic move. Oklahoma State is preparing, quite adequately, to brace for life without three guys who could potentially have a future in the NFL.
So first, let’s take a look at the 2017 commits.
Tylan Wallace — 6-foot, 180
Oklahoma State is getting one of the elite receivers in the country in Wallace, a four-star recruit from Fort Worth South Hills. With close to 20 Division I offers from the likes of Notre Dame, OU, Oregon and others, Wallace opted for OSU.
As you well know, Wallace has a twin brother who is also OSU bound. After two ACL injuries in consecutive seasons, it’s easy to forgot that both were considered top Texas recruits.
LC Greenwood — 6-foot-3, 200
Also known as “Shamond”, Greenwood is a rich mans version of Marcell Ateman. He has elite size to go up and grab the pigskin, and he’s suuuuuuper smooth in the open field.
He too, like Tylan, held nearly 20 offers before opting for OSU. He’s the second four-star in this 2017 wide receiver haul.
Braydon Johnson — 6-foot, 195
This Arlington Bowie prospect committed to OSU and has been a complete sleeper – even after making his pledge earlier in 2016.
Like Chris Lacy, Johnson makes an impact as a blocker, but he can make plays with soft hands and a good leaping ability from the outside. He’s a versatile receiver who can fill multiple roles — something OSU will almost certainly take advantage of.
Now about those 2018 offers.
C.J. Moore — 6-foot-5, 180
This Tulsa Union receiver has BLOWN UP on the recruiting trail. Oklahoma State jumped in the mix early, and Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and a whole bunch of others have followed suit.
Recognize that last name? It’s the cousin of former Oklahoma State receiver Tracy Moore, who went on to have a pretty successful career at OSU by way of Union.
Joshua Moore — 6-foot-1, 168
Moore, a four-star prospect from Yoakum, has already garnered offers from more than 50 Division I programs. And counting.
If I’m being honest, a long shot would be a nice way of putting this one. His brother recently committed to Texas A&M, and I’d bet he leans the same – or goes with OU, Texas, or Tennessee.
