NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks Reportedly Interested in Acquiring Marcus Smart
The Boston Celtics are reportedly shopping former OSU guard Marcus Smart on the trade market, and the New York Knicks are among the potential suitors to acquire him.
According to a report from Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks are looking into trade options to fill the cap space they have, which could be around $15 million when they imminently renounce their hold on Derrick Rose.

The Celtics landed All-Star forward Gordon Hayward this week and agreed to pay him a four-year, $128 million deal — meaning Boston now has to clear cap space to take in his max salary. According to ESPN, Boston has discussed a sign-and-trade possibility with the Utah Jazz that would send Jae Crowder, who is owed $6.79 million next season, to Salt Lake City for cap relief.
Smart, who is set to make $4.5 million in the final year of his rookie deal, is eligible for an extension this offseason and will become a restricted free agent next summer.
