Washington recalls gruesome Alamo Bowl injury

No. 28’s rumored hernia injury has been the talk of the week, but his hand injury in the Alamo Bowl — which apparently was bad enough that it showed bone — is a gruesome story John Helsley of The Oklahoman detailed beautifully.

“I grabbed it and I’m messing with it, trying to put it back in place,” Washington said. “And it wouldn’t go back in. So I go to the sideline and take my glove off and the bone is sticking out through the skin.” [NewsOK]

Washington’s hand injury has fully recovered since that day in January, and his other “injury”? That seems to be doing just fine, too. He says he plans to play in game 1 when OSU hosts Tulsa on Aug. 31.

Chris Carson Climbing the Ranks

Former OSU running back Chris Carson has made waves with his steady play in the preseason with the Seattle Seahawks, rushing for 2 touchdowns earlier this week, and is now reaping the benefits. According to ESPN, he’s ahead of Alex Collins — the man he likely needed to beat to win a spot on the 53-man roster — and is poised to see more reps in practice after his hot summer.

“Carson is clearly ahead of Alex Collins and continues to climb up the depth chart. When Rawls got the day off Tuesday, Lacy, Carson and C.J. Prosise all got turns with the first team.” [ESPN]

Can you imagine … Chris Carson: starting running back for the Seattle Seahawks? Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy are likely going to be the top dogs, but Carson looks like he’s going to be a major factor for Pete Carroll’s team in 2017.
