Oklahoma State men’s basketball took center stage last week at Kansas, but several other sports had big weekends as well. Let’s take a look at a few of those in this week’s all-sports roundup.

Women’s Basketball

The 23rd-ranked Cowgirls won their seventh conference victory and moved to 16-6 overall with a 92-63 victory over Kansas last Saturday. The Cowgirls dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Jayhawks 15-5 on the offensive glass and 46-25 overall.

Loryn Goodwin led all scorers with 25 points and also finished with nine rebounds and six assists. Kaylee Jensen also scored in double figures, recording 23 points and nine boards in the cowgirls’ winning effort. Freshman Braxtin Miller also contributed with 17 points.

The Cowgirls now prepare for their game against TCU in Fort Worth on Feb. 7.

Men’s Golf

The Cowboys opened their spring schedule with a victory at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Waikoloa Kings’ Course in Hawaii on Saturday. The victory marks the seventh time in school history that the Cowboys have claimed the tournament’s title.

The Cowboys shot a 47-under 817 to finish 17 shots in front of second-placed Texas Tech. Four of OSU’s five starters finished in the individual top 10, with sophomore Viktor Hovland and freshman Matthew Wolff finishing tied for second place at 12-under 204. Juniors Hayden Wood and Zach Bauchou finished tied for fourth and tied for ninth, respectively. Senior Cowboy Kristoffer Ventura, who competed individually, finish tied for 13th place at 208.

The Cowboys now prepare for The Prestige at PGA West on Feb. 19.

Softball

Senior Vanessa Shippy was named to the 2018 Justin’s World of Softball Preseason All-America First Team this week. For Shippy, this comes one day after being named to the College Sports Madness’ first team on Sunday. Shippy was also named to the 2018 USA Softball College Player of the Year Top 50 watch list last week.

Shippy and the Cowgirls begin their 2018 season this weekend on Friday in Tempe, Arizona, for the 2018 Kajikawa Classic. OSU opens with a doubleheader against Oregon State and No. 7 Arizona before facing Missouri, New Mexico and Western Michigan.

Tennis

The No. 18 Cowgirls moved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-2 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks last weekend. The Razorbacks took an early 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches, but the Cowgirls dominated singles play, claiming the last three matches, to hand Arkansas its third loss.

The Cowgirls weren’t the only victorious team in the Greenwood Tennis Center over the weekend. The men took down No. 20 Tulane, 4-3, to move to 7-0 on the season.

Sophomore Mathieu Scaglia played a big role in the win, clinching the victory in tiebreak in the final singles match and playing in the winning doubles tandem with Brady Draheim and taking down No. 47 Tim Reutzel and Hamish Stewart, 6-2.

Track and Field

Oklahoma State claimed five event titles, including sweeping the 600-yard titles, at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in Ahearn Field House this past weekend. Sophomore

Elliett Kulkin took first overall on the first day of the event, clearing a height of 3.70m and setting a new season record for the Cowgirls. The final two event titles came in the women’s 60m and 3,000m, with Lexie Lewis and Grace Baker claiming the title in those two events, respectively.

Wrestling

The Cowboys took down No. 13 Northern Iowa, 24-10, on Saturday to earn their 10th win of the season and move to 6-0 in conference play. Read PFB’s recap and five thoughts here.
