Buffalo Bills Cut Former OSU WR Braydon Johnson to Make Room for Marcell Ateman
There’s good news and there’s bad news for a pair of former OSU WRs.
One former OSU star got a big opportunity this week. That opportunity, though, unfortunately came at the expense of another former OSU star.
The Buffalo Bills this week announced they signed former OSU wide receiver Marcell Ateman to a new one-year deal with the team after a successful stint in the XFL with the Battlehawks. The Bills in a corresponding move cut former OSU wide receiver Braydon Johnson, who signed with the team after going undrafted earlier this year.
Ateman was the No. 228 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to the Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas). He spent most of his time there as a practice squad player until 2021, when he was waived and subsequently signed by the Arizona Cardinals.
Ateman has gathered more NFL juice in recent months after a short but successful stint in St. Louis with the XFL’s Battlehawks, where he amassed 259 total yards in six games.
