Colorado Defensive End Taje McCoy to Transfer to Oklahoma State

The Cowboys have added another defensive lineman by way of the portal, and this one is coming home.

Former Colorado defensive end Taje McCoy will transfer to Oklahoma State, according to CBS Sports and 247Sports.

McCoy is an Oklahoma native who hails from Putman City High School from which he committed to the Buffaloes as a three-star recruit in the 2024 class and the No. 6 prospect in the state, according to 247Sports’ Composite ranking.

As a redshirt freshman at Colorado last year, the 6-foot-3, 245-pound edge rusher racked up 23 total tackles, four sacks, and two QB hurries. He actually logged a career-high five tackles and one of those QB hurries against the Cowboys. That production earned McCoy Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honorable mention. He played in all 13 games in 2024 following four appearances as a true frosh in 2023. McCoy entered the transfer portal when it opened on Wednesday, April 16.

McCoy joins a slew of D-line additions by way of transfer, a list that also includes: Wendell Gregory (SC), Malik Charles (West Georgia), Kyran Duhon (UTEP), Sitiveni Havili Kaufusi (UCLA), Chandavian Bradley (Hutchinson) and Rashod Bradley (East Mississippi).
