STILLWATER — Steve Lutz let reporters know Tuesday that he’s putting the finishing touches on the Cowboys’ upcoming nonconference schedule, and on Thursday, the league announced who the Pokes will play in the Big 12.

No longer a league of 10 teams, the Big 12 squads don’t just play everyone home-and-home anymore. So, here is a look at the teams OSU will play and where this season (dates and times for these games will be announced at a later date):

Both: Iowa State, TCU, Utah
Home Only: Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Colorado, Texas Tech, UCF
Away Only: Baylor, BYU, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, West Virginia

It’s a fairly evenly divided lineup in terms of how teams performed last year at least. The average NET finish among the Cowboys’ three two-way opponents was 59.7. For the home-only foes, it was 45.5; and the away-only foes averaged a 42.2 finish in the NET. In the modern world with so much player movement, it’s tough to predict how any team will do next season, but in terms of how teams finished last season, it’s mostly balanced.

The Cowboys’ two transfers from within the Big 12 won’t travel back to their former teams but will get them in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU added Andrija Grbovic from Arizona State and Jordan Burks from UCF this offseason.

Last season was the first since the 2009-10 season that the Cowboys didn’t travel to Lawrence for a game against the Jayhawks, but they will make that trip this season.

Lutz has turned over most of his roster entering his third year leading the Cowboys. They return four players (Kanye Clary, Ben Ahmed, Ryan Crotty and Mekhi Ragland). That number could push to five should Parsa Fallah gain an extra year of eligibility.

Along with that group, Lutz has added four freshmen (Jalen Montonati, Latrell Allmond, Parker Robinson and Anthony Felesi) and six transfers (Luka Bogavac, Kashie Natt, Jacob Walker, Grbovic, Julius Halaifonua and Burks).
