Happy Monday – OSU noted on Friday they’re planning to open campus in the fall but keeping an eye on the situation.
Bullets Rundown
• How the No. 1 player in each class impacted their team
• Gundy adds a 2021 recruit
• List of NFL-bound players from Big 12 teams since 2015
OSU Bullets
• My guy Sam is back with a piece looking at Cade Cunnigham and looking at how the No. 1 player in the class has impacted the last ten teams.
I came into the piece thinking Ben Simmons and still land there (while they’re fundamentally different players with). I liked this line:
But half of the teams boasting a No. 1 pick that we reviewed at least made the Sweet 16, which should give Oklahoma State some real hope that has been missing since Marcus Smart, Markel Brown and Le’Bryan Nash were in town. [PFB]
• Mike Gundy landed another recruit in the 2021 recruiting class yesterday – an in-state safety with some impressive offers.
• This chart looking at draft picks by CFB team during the Playoff era (since 2015) is fascinating. Not the best look for the Pokes *cough* while they’re still one of the most successful football teams in the country *cough*. Here’s where OSU fits in the Big 12:
1. OU
2. TCU
3. West Virginia
4. Texas
5. Baylor
6. OSU
7. Texas Tech
8. K-State
9. Kansas
10. Iowa State

• Three NFL draft picks that gave me some concern about the Pokes ahead of them on their depth charts:
- Baltimore Ravens taking the Ohio State running back in the 2nd (Justice Hill)
- Pittsburgh Steelers taking a wide receiver in the 2nd (James Washington)
- Seattle Seahawks drafting an underrated running back in the 4th (Chris Carson)
• For contrast on AJ Green’s guaranteed money he’s (tweeted to be) receiving from the Cleveland Browns, Green is receiving more than any OSU player drafted/undrafted last year that wasn’t Justice Hill.
Cleveland Browns wanted Oklahoma State corner A.J. Green badly. They signed him to a free agent deal that includes $145,000 guaranteed, with $130,000 base salary guarantee and $15,000 signing bonus, according to a league source

• OSU’s wrestling attendance number was sixth-highest behind four Big Ten schools and Iowa State.

• Glass half-full: the Big 12 leads the country in underperforming teams
Glass half-empty: Pokes gotta get more pros on the roster
Power 5 schools w/out any 2020 NFL Draft picks & last year’s record:
Kansas State 8-5
Oklahoma State 8-5
Iowa State 7-6
Illinois 6-7
Duke 5-7
Arizona 4-8
Ole Miss 4-8
Northwestern 3-9
Rutgers 2-10— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) April 25, 2020

• “The Coronavirus and the Fallacy of the False Dilemma” is one of the better, well-rounded pieces on the pandemic. Don’t love the tone but good thoughts.
• Fantastic NFL draft review here from PFF
• Great faith-based read on “what cravings will take from you”
