OSU Bullets

• OSU lost just one returning starter on defense – cornerback A.J. Green to the Cleveland Browns – but defensive coordinator Jim Knowles feels great about the replacement options.

…Knowles no longer faces the perilous question of how to replace Green. Instead, Knowles is choosing between two good options.

“A.J. is a significant loss,” Knowles said. “But to be able to replace him with a guy ( Jarrick Bernard-Converse) who has two years worth of starts and bring in a transfer (Christian Holmes) who is everything you could ever want in a kid in terms of his ability and his focus and his wanting to be a part of the team — I feel great about the position.” [NewsOK]

Even better – OSU returns 20 of 22 on the two-deep on defense. If you want a full-scale breakdown of OSU’s defensive depth chart, check out this podcast.

• Per on Vegas sportsbook, the Pokes are projected to finish second in the Big 12 with the same odds as the Texas Longhorns – Berry T. breaks down the odds of teams around the league in the same piece

• In a list of “bold projections”, Chuba Hubbard is predicted to not lead the Big 12 in rushing.

I could see Gundy and Hubbard agreeing to a carries limit in each game, depending on how the flow of the game is going, which will prevent him from coming close to last season’s production. Hubbard doesn’t really need it for his NFL stock anyway. [HCS]

That’s a reasonable take – what made Hubbard’s load so large last year was no Tylan Wallace and a partially injured quarterback… There wasn’t an offensive option near as good as “Chuba left” and “Chuba right”.

• This is a bummer if true – Cowgirl Basketball could be losing a nearly 20 point/game scorer.

• An early round of bowl projections are out, Pokes seeing an all-too-familiar bowl foe in Texas

• Kevin from Home Alone is now a man, as he’s 40.
