Oklahoma State Offers Mississippi State Corner Commit Julian McDonald

The Cowboys are trying to swipe a long, speedy defensive back from an SEC school.

Julian McDonald announced an Oklahoma State offer on Thursday. A 6-foot-2, Class of 2027 cornerback from Alabama, McDonald has been committed to Mississippi State since June.

The major recruiting services list McDonald as a three-star prospect. He’s the No. 989 overall player in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2027 cycle, which makes him a Top 100 corner in the class and the No. 41 player from the state of Alabama.

Since his commitment to the Bulldogs, McDonald has also announced offers to LSU, Cincinnati and others.

McDonald plays at Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama. His Lions are 5-0 in his senior season. Per MaxPreps, McDonald has six tackles, and interception and five pass breakups in three games.

The Cowboys haven’t shied away from offering committed prospects late in the 2027 cycle. In the past few months, Boston College DT commit MJ Woods, Cincinnati defensive back commit Noah Willis, Arizona receiver commit Braylen Ross and Pitt defensive back commit Jordan Young have all announced OSU offers.

OSU has a dozen players committed in its 2027 class, two of whom are defensive backs in Bryson Brown (Broken Arrow) and Chayce Davis (Euless, Texas).

That class ranks 14th in the Big 12, but some of that comes down to quantity, as OSU is tied with Baylor and Arizona State for the fewest commits in the Big 12. When looking at the average ratings of commits, OSU’s class ranks sixth in the league.
