Daily Bullets (June 19)
Warmest Welcome
Oklahoma State was selected as the most reload-friendly, easiest start to a schedule in the country by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.
Friendliest opening stretch (Power 5): Oklahoma State
The Pokes begin life after Mason Rudolph with a group of games that should allow their next quarterback to get comfortable. Oklahoma State plays five of its first six games at home and its lone away game comes against Kansas, which hasn’t won more than three games since 2009. Boise State provides a good test in Week 3, and Iowa State is coming off a breakthrough season, but Oklahoma State is traditionally strong under Gundy. [ESPN]
While it was fun to see a rebuilding 2014 team give Jameis Winston’s Seminoles a run for their money, a home game against CFB’s bracket buster leading into a Charmin soft start to league play is incredibly ideal for an offense looking to hit it’s stride.
Pick(ed) Your Poison
Under new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, there appears to be a decided move the from bend-don’t-break style of defense.
When you’ve got a prolific offense and can absorb the occasional gash, this aggressive approach can be devastating. If you can force an extra couple of three-and-outs or turnovers per game, that’s a service break the other team just can’t cope with. You just have to make sure you’ve got the athletes to turn aggression into production.
So uh, does OSU have the athletes? Hard to say. The Pokes do have good experience, though. [SBNation]
The premium that’s almost guaranteed annually is an offense that can put points on the board. And the capacity to do it quickly. In a stomach-churning, vomit-inducing game against Kansas State, and to a lesser degree Texas and TCU, the offense played keep-away by running the ball and running the clock. The thought “if the offense can just get the ball back and get into a rhythm was sparsely answered until it was too late.
And it appears that won’t be an issue with Knowles’ unit. It could be a lot of “three-and-back-out-there” for the better or worse.
OSU and NCAA Notes

Been to an @owassoathletics sporting event? Then you have definitely heard the voice of @JaredGallagher. Now, his golden tones have gotten even more "golden" as he'll expand his talents to the D-1 level by joining the University of Tulsa. https://t.co/RVPb99tcu0
