Year of Tyron
We all know (per these fun highlights) what Tyron Johnson is capable of… But how does that compare to the rest of Big 12 wide receivers?
Looking back at (Johnson’s) stats last season (18 Rec, 293 yds & 3 TDs), you wouldn’t expect much but let me tell you something, this guy is a freak athlete and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as the number one WR in Stillwater. Talk to NFL scouts or analyst and they will certainly tell you that there are plenty of eyeballs on him because the talent is there.
I saw plenty of list of top WRs in the Big 12 and hardly anyone had him in their top 10 which is silly because he may be the first Big 12 WR off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft. Those around the OSU program know but now so do you. No to mention, with James Washington and Marcell Ateman gone to the NFL, there are more targets to go around. [HCS]
Johnson isn’t your Stillwater 2-star turned big-star. He’s a supremely talented player that’s about to be the primary big-play pass catcher that a quarterback will lean on.
Less Demand and More Supply
The primary reason for Dez Bryant’s unemployment is hard to blame him for.
The direction of receiver usage in the league doesn’t trend in Bryant’s favor, but it’s important to remember that not every team has adopted this schematic philosophy. Oakland was happy to hand Jordy Nelson a two-year, $14.2 million deal this offseason. Michael Crabtree got $13 million guaranteed from Baltimore in March. And heck, the Ravens tried to give Bryant a multiyear deal in late April. There are teams that remain willing to pay receivers who struggle to create downfield separation. It just so happens that most had their depth charts set by the time Bryant became available. [TheRinger]
The piece looks at a style used that doesn’t put a premium on what Dez can do – bully undersized defensive backs. But the teams that need this skillset had addressed their receiving depth chart by the time that No. 88 was out on the market.
OSU and NCAA Notes

A really impressive part of this Cowboy Baseball team.
Seems worthy of mention that the #okstate baseball team finished a game away from a Big 12 title with dudes who didn't get picked in the first dozen rounds of the #MLBDraft and a bunch of underclassmen.
Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and OU had at least three draftees through 12 rounds.

…and congrats to the first Cowboy taken – and his four peers.
Congrats to @jonathanheasley, the first Cowboy to hear his name called in 2018 @MLBDraft! #GoPokes #okstate pic.twitter.com/poPTL47gZy

Projecting only half of the league getting in would almost be a down year.
In his latest projections, Joe Lunardi has just five #Big12 teams in the tournament. #RockChalk, #GoPokes, #WreckEm, #WVU, #GoFrogs https://t.co/biIBh4H0U6
