Daily Bullets (May 24): Pokes Open Slow at NCAAs, Gottlieb’s Good Idea

Published

on

Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.

Three Thoughts

• Through one round at the NCAA Championships, Cowboy Golf is tied for 14th – Preston Stout is -1, but two guys are +3 (Clippd)

Really solid idea here from Doug Gottliebappealing to the NCAA for his Green Bay squad to get to play in the TBT Tournament with a $1M prize (ESPN)

This number surprised me – check out how much less frequently OSU quarterbacks have been throwing touchdowns over the last five seasons:

During Mike Gundy’s first 15 seasons at Oklahoma State, the Cowboys averaged a touchdown pass every 15.5 attempts. Since 2020, that rate has jumped to one for every 24.7 attempts.

Two Quotes

• Pretty safe to say Cade Cunningham is a top 20 NBA player after he made third team All-NBA yesterday:

• Wild to think it’s already been five years since Eddie passed:

One Question

• In the spirit of taking on other high-level contenders months from it taking place, is there an out-of-conference football team you’d pick OSU to play this year? (Perhaps in the place of a trip to play a ranked Oregon squad)

My top three (all road trips) that would be good for 2026 – Clemson (no risk, expected to lose), Florida State (power that’s down), and Indiana (beat a Big Ten team that shouldn’t be so well perceived)

Non-OSU Bullets

Watched the “Last King of Scotland” this week, whew that was tough. Just went to work for a nonprofit in Uganda, grateful to never have had a dictator over the US.

• Don’t apply the Bible to your life, do this instead (faith-based)

• The Thunder is an old-school juggernaut

“Your first task is to find what feels effortless to you. Your second task is to put maximum effort into it.”
James Clear

I’d prefer the Knicks just for visibility but this is pretty good:
