OSU heads east
The Cowboys got their bid on Monday and will go to Arkansas to face Missouri State on Friday. Followed by either Arkansas or ORU on Saturday.
“We’re savoring this,” Holliday said. “We’re thrilled that we get to play together. And we’re thrilled that we get to go to a regional that’s close enough to share with people that have been by our side and hopefully get some fans over there and cheer these kids on, because they deserve it. [NewsOK]
He’s also talking up the regional like Travis Ford used to talk up non-conference opponents in November.
“I mean, you got an Arkansas team that, I think from about the middle of the year on, played as good as anybody in the country and just played into the championship of the SEC Tournament. An Oral Roberts team that we’ve seen three times and have great respect for and know their players and coaches quite well.
“A Missouri State team that, I think at one point, had won 20 straight games in their own conference and loaded with talented players that we’ve seen once before and obviously our kids and what they’ve done in the past 10 days. So, sounds like four great teams, it’s going to be at a great site over in Fayetteville where they have a beautiful facility and amazing fans.” [Go Pokes — $]
I’m pumped for this weekend.

My pal Ben Kercheval of CBS Sports says that OSU, not OU, provides the most value if you’re trying to pick a Big 12 winner this fall.
It’s not Oklahoma, that’s for sure. The Sooners are such heavy favorites — and with good reason, given their history of dominance in the conference — that you’re not going to make substantial money on them. Go with Oklahoma State instead. The Cowboys have the next best odds at +500 and are the trendy team to upend their in-state rivals for the conference crown. [CBS Sports]
OU is becoming a little like the Kansas of football when it comes to the Big 12. They might not win it every year (although KU does), but with Texas down, they’re an easy heavy favorite to insert in the spring, summer and early fall.
