Offensive Juggernauts

There’s something in the water in the 405 area code. Berry Tramel found that outside of OSU, OU and anyone playing Kansas, the Big 12 isn’t really that explosive.

(Y)ou add the Bedlam offensive juggernauts, and the scoreboards blow. You know the OU and OSU conference scores: 49-41, 49-42, 50-39, 49-27, 59-16, 41-34 and 44-31.

The truth is, this is a normal conference. Except it has the nation’s two best offenses, and those two offenses are supported by defenses that are mostly mediocre and sometimes not even that.

Next season, when Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph are gone, we’ll see if that changes the conference landscape. For now, this is a normal league led by two abnormal teams. [NewsOK]

It’s almost as if teams throw off any weight that hinders and start throwing for the moon to keep up with the Bedlam offenses. Hard to believe a state with seven electoral votes has the best offenses in college football.

Draft Stock

Some say that Mason Rudolph’s NFL prospects are improving after the Iowa State win.

Rudolph had one of his gutsiest performances of the season against an Iowa State team no one really wants to play, especially in Ames this time of year. He went 25 of 31 for 376 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Also, he proved he doesn’t have to rely on hitting a few deep balls each game to make a sizable impact.

James Washington only had one reception. Rudolph managed the pocket well, didn’t get antsy when his first read was covered, and allowed his receivers to make plays. [CBS Sports]

We probably don’t give him enough credit – staring at his overthrows (especially in Bedlam) – but his gutsiness and stomach to hit the third and long pass have been incredible.

All I know is these are NFL players in black and orange.

This video from a third grader and Gundy’s response were everything that should be about celebrity relationships with their fans.

I know nothing about the credibility of this Heisman pundit but it’s a really intriguing argument for Mason Rudolph.

Word from our wrestling writer said if you buy tix early, they’re the same price as late but you can sit super low.

This hook-and-ladder from the weekend was fantastic.

Tell us what you really think, Breckyn. Side note: if trades were OK in CFB, I’d give our fifth WR for this guy.
