Daily Bullets (Oct. 16): Mestemaker Turning (More) Heads

• Drew Mestemaker nearly topped the list for the most famous NFL draft analyst there is (PFB)

I waited on Mestemaker’s tape. Went in skeptical. Came away sold on the potential. He needs more experience —and against better defenses. Another year at Oklahoma State could help. But the traits and intangibles to become a high-level NFL starter are there.

• Checkout what’s going on this weekend in college football (PFB)

• Pokes going white, white, orange this weekend (PFB)

• I’m not sure this is a narrative the Cowboy Football team embraces but regarding the Big 12 title picture, it’s certainly true:

The job is simple this week — the Cowboys must prove they belong in the conversation. If OSU wins, their next three games are favorable enough to allow the Cowboys to be 6-0 going into their Nov. 14 showdown with Texas Tech. [HCS]

• OSU had four of the top 60 receivers of the last 50 years – including one in the top five (ESPN)

• TV details for the Cowboy Basketball schedule (OKState.com)

• Nice break for the Pokes – Houston missing their former defensive tackle, a Tulsa Union product.

Initial injury report for #OkState and Houston is out. Mose Phillips and doubtful. Former Cowboy DT De’Marion Thomas is out for the Cougars. Big loss for them as he’s their best nose tackle. https://t.co/XoQOtNG9ZG

Non-OSU Bullets

• The Big 12 is adding another jersey patch

• I’m not a baseball fan but assumed before the season started the Dodgers would run away with the whole thing – congrats to the Brewers

Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.
