OSU is 40 percent through what’s sure to be the weirdest season ever in college football and, somehow, the Cowboys are in the driver’s seat for a trip to Arlington. Let’s start there.

OSU Bullets

• The Cowboys outlasted No. 17 Iowa State on Saturday to remain undefeated. Make sure you check out Marshall Scott’s 10 Thoughts on the affair.

• Jenni Carlson on why this play was the biggest of the game…

It was at least a 10-point swing, maybe even a 14-point swing had Purdy found one of his targets for a touchdown.

What’s more, it sparked more blitzes and more pressure from the Cowboy defense. It came from everywhere. The defensive line with guys like Trace Ford and Brandon Evers. The linebackers, Calvin Bundage and Rodriguez. The secondary, too. [NewsOK]

• Dez is always watching… and tweeting.

• I do have to give Marshall props for his game pick. He apparently foresaw the defensive effort (or offensive ugliness) of both teams and called a 27-21 game. (Just 3 points off.)

•Seems significant.

• It’s unbelievable that it’s already been five years.

Non-OSU Bullets

• It was a pretty special scene in the Indiana locker room following the Hoosiers’ huge overtime win over No. 8 Penn State.

Book Rec: I’ve been slacking on my reading a bit as of late but recently finished The Challenger Sale. It’s not just for people in sales. It offers an interesting look at how we interact with each other and gave me plenty to think about.
