• Yesterday, a massive change in the NCAA’s stance on college athletes receiving compensation was announced. Here’s what was actually communicated in layman’s terms.

Tuesday’s announcement indicated a sea change without providing direct answers or rule adjustments. For now, it’s up to the existing working group to gather more information. The NCAA, in a sense, stiff armed the state and federal regulations that are in the pipeline. In other words, the NCAA is claiming, “Hold on, we’re doing something” while not yet doing much of anything.

“Today, this ruling it offers no insight as to how to resolve this,” said U.S. Rep. Mark Walker (R-NC), who proposed a federal name, image and likeness law that could be considered as early as next year. [CBS Sports]

No word yet on the real question being answered.

• Is Tylan Wallace the most Dez Bryant-like player to come through Stillwater (since Dez)? Mike Gundy wasn’t afraid to make that comparison.

“He’s extremely physical, he’s not scared and he’s explosive. He’s going to have a really good vertical jump, and he’s an explosive type of athlete. Those guys come up on him and he can stiff-arm them, and he’s got great balance.” (Gundy)

Yes … yes, I think this is true.

“The play that he made Saturday was like Dez Bryant. It looked like something Dez would do back in the day. It’s about as good of a play as I’ve seen in a long time.” [PFB]

• The Texas Bowl seems like a reasonable destination for the Pokes. And facing an ACC opponent (as opposed to SEC) sounds interesting too.

Texas A&M has been the opponent that keeps being thrown around but if the SEC can’t fill their slots, another eligible squad gets the spot. I just like the idea of seeing a team we haven’t seen and since NC State canceled a series with the Pokes for 2015 and 2016, this would be fun.
