On Wednesday night Daniel Cormier picked up the award over some of the biggest names in MMA. Cormier along with Israel Adesanya (Interim UFC middleweight champion), Henry Cejudo (UFC flyweight, bantamweight champion), and Amanda Nunes (UFC women’s featherweight, bantamweight champion) were the nominees.
Here is the video of @dc_mma winning the ESPY. You can see how much this means to him, and he reveals it comes at a time when both of his parents are currently in this hospital. “I can’t believe I have an ESPY. I’m just a kid from Louisiana.” pic.twitter.com/GVGaVIIdq2

Cormier’s biggest win of last year came last July when he knocked out Stipe Miocic to claim both the UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight titles.
They will run it back next month when Cormier defends his heavyweight title against Miocic on August 17th at UFC 241.
