Five-Star Bryce Thompson to Announce Top Schools on Thursday Night

Thompson’s cutting his list, and OSU is in the mix.

Five-star guard prospect Bryce Thompson is set to take the next step in his college recruitment.

The Booker T. Washington product from Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced Wednesday night that on Thursday he’ll narrow his list of schools down to a final cut. The news came within hours of other major OSU news: that five-star Cade Cunningham will make an official to OSU early next month.

This is big news because it is very much expected to be OSU news. Thompson is considering Arkansas, Colorado, Michigan State, OU, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Kansas, Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma State, and the Cowboys — no matter the order of his top list — are expected to be included in some form or fashion.

Each of Thompson’s suitors bring their own unique offer to the table. OSU offers close proximity to home (along with, potentially, a chance to play with Cunningham); OU offers close proximity to home and a close kinship with the staff; Kansas offers Bill Self — who coached Thompson’s father; UNC offers a huge stage and a relationship with an assistant for whom his father played for; Michigan State is Michigan State.

Thompson’s decision could impact OSU’s pursuit of other targets in 2020, but for now, he remains a top priority along with Cunningham — both of which, I’m told, are expected to sign in the early period later this fall.
