Former OSU Hoops Star Paul Mullen, Starting Center on Henry Iba’s Final OSU Team, Dies at 75

Former Oklahoma State star Paul Mullen, a starting center for what was the final team under the legendary coach Henry Iba, died June 10, the OSU program announced this week. Mullen was 75 years old.

Mullen was born in Seminole, Oklahoma in in 1948, where he was an All-State performer at Seminole High School before catching OSU’s eye and signing with the school in 1967.

Mullen started every game as an upperclassmen for Iba, averaging 10.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a junior. The following year he averaged 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game for first-year coach Sam Aubrey as a senior.

Mullen graduated in 1971 but remained active in the Stillwater community, where he managed the OSU payroll department and regularly attended games and reunions, according to OSU. He retired from OSU and went on to work for ShopSmith doing woodworking demonstrations, and later went on to work at Lowes in Stillwater.
